I spent the last week researching and writing about the Netflix Grishaverse team tackling the racism of the source material. I wanted to understand how we went from apprehension to one of the half korean writers defending herself on twitter.
I know people are tired of hearing the word diversity but i wrote this thing and i am absolutely tired of the word. we shouldnt have to wait for a brave new world of well researched/self aware/compassionate media but i wanted to open up a nuanced conversation about it.
This, ladies and gentlemen and my nonbinary pals, is my favorite author in the world. Not only is he a master storyteller, but he’s also an inclusive writer and a human being who recognises and accepts minorities without giving a second thought about what others may think or say to/about him. I salute Uncle Rick for all his amazing work and inclusion. 🥇 He gets the gold from me
does anyone remember/have that one tweet that went like “if i ever become a famous author/whatever i’m gonna tweet something like ‘there’s one fanfic out there that is canon’ so people will go crazy trying to find the fic that i wrote and give other fic writers a lot more recognition” or something like that because that’s literally what noelle stevenson did and i stan
